The lead into our new 2025 Winter season was long and busy.
Lots of work produced 7 teams, minor changes for 3, others rearranged & rebuilt. Very rewarding outcomes all around, a pleasant surprise being the arrival of a new team, a 15A complete with 3 delightful coach/managers. Club heaven!
Overall, we welcomed 24 new players, with a range of skills to strengthen our club. They were graded with their new teams against our other club teams. Later on Lisa Davison’s team provided a preseason Round Robin for game readiness.
Meanwhile our club ‘Executive team’ have attended courses and meetings, had many conversations with incoming players, communicated via multiple internet modes.
With 2 games having been played, & wins in abundance, Game 3 begins smoothly in May, traditionally a month of unbroken games, given there are no disasters. Everyone is looking forward to a great season.
As we welcome new members, we are proud to acknowledge our large talent pool of long-time members. In the upper echelons of that talent, we have Colette Longley, Comets club founder, MWNA Life Member, Advanced Coaching Accreditation, & official at many levels within MWNA.
A short time ago, Colette was asked to step in as replacement coach for NSW Open Mixed Team playing Nationals in Melbourne. Despite the shortened training time, NSW made Grand finals vs South Australia, much to everyone’s delight, providing an exciting competitive game. A win was not the outcome for NSW, but an opportunity to challenge & showcase NSW talent for the future.
